1 year old Golden Retriever taking a break, "lifes ruff"

We rescued Angel from what looked to be an abusive home, she would crouch to the floor if you reached for her too fast or shake a little, very matted fur. She is only 1 year old and still very much a puppy. We weren't out trying to find a retriever, it's more like she found us! I was looking for something on a classified site and stumbled upon her ad, "free to good home, needs to go". I picked her up that night and the rest is history, instant part of the family.

The picture is Angel relaxing beside me while I'm at my desk, absolutely adorable!

Her name when I picked her up wasn't Angel, but it is now!

Thanks for the comment :) We came up with a bunch of different names, but Angel seemed to suit her the best just because of how we ended up with her and the character that she has, she's the best! The world works in mysterious ways and some things are just meant to be...

I'm so happy that you adopted angel in her time of need. You guys are very lucky and so is she. She is deserving of a lovely home as ALL DOGS, Puppies, even other pets...(sometimes snakes lol...i don't know)... deserve a home to be loved and cared in. Angel is sent from a place of beauty and it's like god didn't convince you but made you find this beauty!!! SO PROUD!!! :D

I am on my third golden retriever... he is such a handsome dog. I cannot imaging ever harming him and it makes me sick that anyone could harm such a loving, gentle animal. Angel is so lucky you came along!!!

I totally agree with you. That's what Jean and I wanted to do. Give someone a chance to experience what Love is and not what they had. Even though we knew the time would be short. That's all. Love. We seeked (Via internet to) out someone to do that with and even when we found her we had to form a chain (accepting two other dogs to go the Maine) while picking up Tess. Funny, Tess's original name was "Love" but never answered to. Somehow we (Jean and I) said Tess (Tessa) and she was so happy. So, when I saw "Angel" it reminded me of "Tess" and I appreciate others out there who would do the same. All the best to you, your family and a "angel" who has come into your life. Just Share.

Mark, that's extremely sad that your boxer had to go through that. Thankfully you were there to see her happily through her final days. We found Angel on an internet page called Kijiji, it's similar to Craigslist. In the free/donate pets section there are now roughly 25 pages of pets! There are 12 yr old brother and sister pets, free to good home? 12 years old?

I look at the ad's and ask myself, how could you give up two dogs that you've had for 12 years? How?
The internet is full of them and it is very sad. Luckily there alot of caring people who will take them in like you. People need to wake up. They're not just dogs and cats, they're a part of the family, but I guess some people weren't raised like that.

Awesome picture!

Thank God for people like you! My wife and I did the same. We adopted a boxer, her name was Tess and was abused horribly (Someone hit her with a ax). We only had her a year before she just laid one day (on her own bed) and passed away. Love and patience does a wonderful thing which we were able to give her. Take Care.

She is the best dog I've ever seen or had and I've always had dogs, never a golden though. We went through names for days but Angel suits her to a "T". I think she was meant to be with us for some strange reason? :)

It will always be Golden Retrievers for us.
