Dog Poem - Ode To A Boxer
by Joyce (Susan's Mum)
(Malaga, Spain)
I didn't expect to fall in love When I was seventy seven. But then our Shira came along And brought a slice of heaven.
She was a lovely boxer, With beautiful brown eyes... Eyes that stared right through you, You knew that dog was wise!
I was allowed to walk her Although she wasn't mine, And gradually my nearby flat Became a doggy shrine.
She found out that my small settee Was for her a perfect size. Countless hours she slumbered there“ With soft, contented sighs.
Each night they came to visit, My daughter and her pet. It was the high spot of my day, I never will forget.
The years passed all too quickly, I couldn't walk so far.. But then we took our darling To Guadalmar, by car.
There she loved to chase a ball, It was her happiest time. We wish we'd realized earlier, For her, this was sublime.
We all were privileged to have Her unconditional love. This lovely dog was surely Sent to us from heaven above.
She is no longer with us, But in our hearts will always stay.... Memories of a treasured dog, Who made each a special day.
From Gran.
