Out and About with your Dog

Dog Walking in Queen's Park Brighton

What do you like about this area for exercising your dog?
Close to my house!

Relatively traffic free streets surround it

Well used by variety of people

Do you consider it a safe place for your dog?
Could be safer. Dog users confined to relatively small area that has no fencing – areas of the park which are fenced (enclosed) are no go areas with dogs!

Standard of litter collection good – don’t generally come across any debris a dog can hurt itself on

Surrounding streets have some traffic, but usually going slowly

Many people let their dogs run free, but I have seen dogs chased into the road

Does it seem popular with other dog owners?
Yes, heavily used at all times of day / evening

What is parking like and/or buses?
Pay and display 9am – 8pm Mon-Sat. Otherwise permit

Buses – 81 (a,b,c) stops at various points along road which runs parallel to park (Queen’s Park Road, Queen’s Park Terrace) 37(?) comes up through Hanover and stops near Queen’s Park terrace I think maybe one other but don’t know the number

Are there doggy bins provided?
Yes, plenty

Are there any cafes and if so are they dog-friendly?
Good café, but in the children’s playground, therefore dogs not permitted. Playground is also within another section which dogs are not allowed to enter, so dogs would have to be tied up at some distance whilst you go and get a coffee.

I think they will provide water for your dog

Are there any doggy no-go areas that you know of? (eg. children’s play area)
above

Do you think this place is best suited to certain breeds/types of dog?
Not particularly, there seem to be a real variety of dogs and owners.

Not suitable for professional dog walkers – area not big enough for significant exercise

Any other points?
Squirrels, joggers, children on bikes – plenty to chase!
