Dog Toys
We've had embarrassing Christmases where friends have bought our dogs 'fun' presents only to watch in horror as the dogs set about completely destroying them, tearing the plastic sausages to bits and chewing them like gum. If you have a dog with a fine set of teeth and super strong jaws, bear this in mind when purchasing dog toys.
We have a Golden Retriever and a Lab-Cross and for them the best dog toys are tough and hard-wearing - 'Kong' and 'Nylabone' are good choices. We have a Kong Tug Toy which is particularly good if you have two dogs.
They take an end each, tugging till one of them eventually gives up. This game can last for five or ten minutes and it's more entertaining to watch than much of what's on TV!
Nylabone products are another sturdy choice and we have several in our house. Here's one very popular toy that's lasted in our house, with daily grinding, for months.
There seem to be set times when our dogs play with certain toys and this one is chewed in the morning when my husband and I are getting ready in the morning.
Cardboard boxes are of course the cheapest dog toys available - just make sure all the staples have been taken out. Dogs love pulling them apart and throwing them round the room. Of course put away your precious ornaments first!
Georgie also loves cuddly toys and this was her private collection when she was a puppy. Scroll to the bottom of the page for what can happen if you leave them alone for too long.

And finally, do keep an eye on your dogs and what they're playing with - especially if things go very quiet! I came upstairs just as the stuffing from 'Arundal' (a favourite cuddly toy) was being chewed - if ingested, this can be bad news for your dog. I think Georgie and Jessie knew they were in the 'dog house' that day!
