JR The Havanese Shih Tzu Mix.
JR (pronounced Junior) is a 3 year old mutt who is crossed with Havanese and Shih Tzu. I've owned him since he was only around 6 - 8 weeks old. JR likes to act like a little "tough dog" but really, he is the most affectionate, lovable dog you will ever find.
JR gets along well with children and other animals, however with small animals he gets a bit overwhelmed and may play a bit rough without even realizing. However, he wouldn't even hurt a fly!
I wouldn't consider JR a huge shedder, although he does shed quite a lot. JR is not neutered, however I know the consequences of having an un-neutered dog, and I and my family are very responsible with JR.
Example: we do NOT leave him unnattended outside, and if he's not in a secured fenced area, we leave him on his leash at all times for his safety.
JR hates bath time, and dislikes pools, although he enjoys swimming in the ocean. JR loves a nice long game of fetch, or a 10 - 15 minute walk, but there could also be a very lazy side to him where he wouldn't mind to just lay down in his corner and relax on the tile flooring during a nice warm day.
JR is at around 20 pounds, but he is not over-weighted. We make sure not to over feed him, and we feed him a good cup and a third of dry dog food once a day.
JR loves learning new tricks, and I love teaching him new things. So far JR knows: "Sit," "Come," "Down," "Up," "Stay," "Stand," "Give me your paw," "Speak," and we are working on much more.
JR is cautious around other animals and people, but once he gets to know others, he could be the most outgoing and affectionate dog ever.
JR is a wonderful watchdog, and is always on the lookout for something to bark at. JR is an overall great dog, and we are happy to have a dog like him.
Thank you very much for taking the time and reading about my dog, JR.
