I met Andrew and his dog, Poppy, on a dog walk recently and we got talking. This is their inspirational story. Poppy lost the use of her back legs . . .Poppy gradually lost the use of her back legs over a short period of time during September and October 2009, although she had never been very steady on her legs since we rescued her in the previous summer. Nothing we could do for her . . . The vet's analysis about a week before her legs finally gave up was that when she eventually became unable to walk there was nothing we could do for her.

We rigged up a sling affair . . . We took that to mean medically and when one morning she couldn't get out of bed we rigged up a sling affair in the short term until we could sort out something more permanent. Measurements over the phone . . . It didn't take long to find the dogmobile company who took measurements over the phone and 10 days later the cart you saw today arrived on 3 November 2009.
How to reverse in the cart . . . Poppy took to it straight away but gauging the width and learning some of the finer manouvres such as reversing and pirouetting took a month or so. She can now walk with us for several hours at a time . . . She can now walk with us around woods and over fairly rough ground for several hours at a time. She sometimes need a little help up steep hills and she gets a bit bogged down when the ground is muddy.
New lease of life . . . Snow was another bit of a problem - she really needed ski fitments but none of these problems have been anything more than a niggle and both my wife and I believe that she has had a new lease of life since we got her the cart. Very helpful company . . . I have included a link to the Dogmobile Company of Bridlington where we bought the cart and we have to say that they were very helpful in getting the cart correctly sized etc and also after care has been good. A couple of the straps have worn until they snapped but an email to them saw us with new parts free of charge within a few days. Neither my wife nor I would hesitate in recommending the Dogmobile company and there is no need to go all the way to Bridlington either - everything is done by email, over the phone or by post.
