July 2009 Dog Photo ContestSee all the photos from this month on one page. Congratulations to our July Dog of the Month, Frazier the Shetland Sheepdog, pictured here with Lake Superior in the background. 
Well done Kelsee from Marquette, Michigan, USA! Thank you once again to everyone who took the time to enter. We loved them all but only one could grace the Welcome Page! When you enter please only send in one photo. We would also like to encourage natural shots rather than photos taken in the studio; and the photo must be taken by you. Did you know that you can make comments on your favourite photo or just let the person know you like their dog? It will really mean a lot to people if you do. Simply click on the entries below and there'll be an opportunity to comment on the individual photo. Go on, join in! It's nice for people to find out what you think of their dog. Please keep comments positive! We shall announce the winner of the July contest on August 1st and the winning entry will have pride of place on the Homepage until the following month. If you would like to help with the judging please contact me. We're looking for people who are genuinely interested in all the entries and are willing to make positive comments on the photos as they come in. If you are having trouble sending a photo, there may be a gap in the photo file name or sometimes the photo itself is too big. If this is the case, try re-sizing it to 500 pixels. This month's judges As always Mark (my husband) and myself will be judging the photos. In addition this month we are lucky to have the winner of the June competition, Judith Muers, to help us with the judging. Jude writes about Marley: 
"He is my best friend, a gentle 43kg giant and is adored by everyone who knows him. He is a poser for the camera and I have over 2000 pics of him!!
He loves the beach. We are lucky living here on the north east coast of England since we have 7 beautiful beaches nearby to choose from. Right from the very first day we could take him out, he has spent at leat 1.5 to 2 hours on the beach with his ball! I don't know how many balls we have gone through over the past 20 months!! Marley has been going to dog training since he was 12 weeks old and passed his Kennel Club Good Citizen Silver Award at 11 months old and although he does very well in gold class he won't let me out of sight for the required 30 seconds!! Marley was poisoned by someone giving him a biscuit on the beach in January of this year. It all happened so quickly before we could stop it and didn't realise the biscuit was poisoned until he became very ill and we nearly lost him. We would have done had it not been for the very quick treatment from our vet and an overnight stay at the vet's, where he was put on a drip overnight and had 7 litres of fluid put through him. The tests the vet did proved he had been poisoned and we put two and two together as it was an hour after being given the biscuit that he became very ill. I now warn everyone of the dangers of letting dogs take treats from people when we are out and about. I would hate anyone to go through what we did. Marley at the moment is being very good to our new addition to the family a beautiful solid black longcoat German Shepherd bitch called Kala."
