This page tells you how to make Mackerel Flap Jacks or "Mack Jacks" as we call them in our house! Made with oats, they are also wheat free.

Mackerel Flap Jacks ("Mack Jacks")
Preparation Time

15 minutes to make


Ingredients

  • 1 egg


  • 1 can mackerel


  • 125g oats


  • half teaspoon garlic powder



  • Instructions

    Heat oven to 225 degrees

    Wash tinned mackerel and lay on kitchen paper to drain excess water

    Mash up mackerel in the bowl

    Break egg into jug and add garlic powder

    Break egg up with a fork so nice and runny

    Add the egg mixture to the oats making sure they’re all coated

    Press mixture into cookie pan with back of spoon. Make sure it is really smooth on top.

    Cut into small pieces after about 5 minutes of coming out of the oven.


    Cooking Time

    20-25 minutes at 225 degrees
