Pet Grooming As A Career
If you love animals then you may want to consider pet grooming as a career.
Once you have been trained you could have your own salon, work for somebody else, or consider a mobile pet grooming business.
Please note that this article has a bias towards dog grooming.
Nature of Work
This work is varied in that you'll be seeing many different types of dogs with different grooming needs. Of course each dog will have their own personality as well so you'll be thinking on your feet as to the best way to approach each dog.
Pet grooming is very rewarding as well as being flexible, especially if you work for yourself.
Skills Needed
You will obiously need a love of animals as well as the ability to put the animal at ease. May dogs for example get very nervous and you'll need to be able to cope with this in a calm, assertive fashion.
You'll need an attention to detail and an artistic eye for the various cuts you'll be doing.
Finally of course for anyone working with pets or children, you'll need a lot of patience!
When you learn pet grooming you should be taught:
- different grooming styles eg. Schnauzers, Cocker Spaniels, Poodles
