Reach for the sky my yellow buttercup

Buttercup is about 10 yrs of age now. She is very smart and understands a lot of words, but at the same time chooses to ignore the commands. She also has a fixed schedule for everything - she knows what time to do what, she even knows the days of the week..!! for example - like she does some peculiar thing every day of the week.

We have a deep attachment towards each other as I have saved her life once. She was very very ill two yrs back and the vet said she needs to be euthanized.

There was no way I could allow the vet to do that. I cried and cried, and the vet said you can take her home but she will die in pain. I could not believe what the vet was saying.

Being selfish maybe I said I will take her home... She was there for the past so many years, if she dies it will be at the same home.

When I got her back, I contacted a few more Veterinary clinics and surprisingly one clinic admitted her despite her condition. They said they can't guarantee that she will live but they will try. After 2 months of agonizing separation from her.. lo! she was back home....

It was the best day of my life, though the doctors had shaved her and she looked frail.. She was back..!! and Alive..

Well done for not giving up! - Hilary (Ed)

Buttercup is beautiful and what a wonderful story. Thank you so much for saving her. One of my friends is in Goa right now. The beauty of the place must help in healing combined with your faith and caring.

Hi Aditi, thank you for the photo and story about Buttercup. I almost moved it to the "Inspiring Dog Story" section. So pleased you went with your instincts and didn't give up on her when she was poorly :)
