Out and About with your Dog

Seafront, Brighton
- what's it like for dogs?

Which part of the seafront do you mostly walk?
The stretch by The Lagoon and up to King Alfred.

What do you like about this area for exercising your dog?
The sea of course, and Alfie likes digging in the sand.

Do you consider it a safe place for your dog?
Yes

Does it seem popular with other dog owners?
Yes

What is parking like and/or buses?
You have to pay for meter parking.

The number 20 bus goes along the coast from Brighton to Shoreham where it heads inland for Steyning.

Are there doggy bins provided?
Yes

Are there any cafes and if so are they dog-friendly?
Heather Mills place, V-Bites, is along this stretch (Hove Lagoon) - no dogs are allowed inside (as you'd expect) but they are well catered for if you sit outside (water bowls and places to tie them up while you're eating).

Are there any doggy no-go areas that you know of? (eg. children’s play area)
Yes the Lagoon play area is out of bounds to dogs. All dogs must be on a lead on the promenade area but off lead on the actual beach.

Also there are restrictions further up the beach (past King Alfred towards Brighton) between May to September.

Do you think this place is best suited to certain breeds/types of dog?
If your dog loves water and is okay with the stones under foot, I'm sure he'd have a lovely walk!

Any other points?
