Shepherd mix - Lucie

I volunteer as a dog photographer at a local high-kill shelter. Each week, I am introduced to many new faces residing at the shelter, but every once in a while, one really catches my heart. Lucie, a 3-month old shepherd pup, was one of those special ones.


She first arrived at the shelter when her owner didn't want her and her sister anymore. After her sister got adopted, Lucie shook constantly with fear, hiding under her bed or back in her kennel's corner. Lucie became my mission.


I took her home to foster her to see if my dogs and I could get her to come around. Only hours later, she was running around the yard, playing with the dogs and enjoying being a smiling, happy puppy. Lucie has been with us for a month, and my friend from several states away adopted her after falling in love with her picture on my Facebook page.


Lucie is going to live a happy and full life. I couldn't have asked for a better Christmas present!
