Shetland Sheepdog Information and Picture of Jake

The Shetland Sheepdog is a very good breed to have with children. They are a very sweet, gentle dog and we have never had any of our shelties try to bite anyone, but are protective at the same time.

They do have to be groomed about every three months but should be brushed every other day or so to keep the shedding at a minimum. We have had three shelties and are hooked on the breed now.

They are very intelligent and easy to train, but keep in mind they do bark at noises mostly and especially bad weather. They need exercise like running outside in back yard and daily walks and toys to keep them occupied.

I would recommend the Sheltie to anyone looking for a sweet mid size pet and lovable companion.

Thanks for all the kind comments on my sheltie Jake. He is a handsome fella and sweet as can be. Shelties are very loving and if you want a dog that will sit by your feet and be loved, sheltie is for you.

Thanks for all the compliments on Jake, he is a doll. They do require lot of grooming and are to be brushed frequently if you have the time. This would be a great dog to have.

Your dog is so cute =) I wanted a dog with those type of hair on them but I am not sure if I can handle grooming. They said that grooming can be a challenge.
