Out and About with your Dog

Terrier Crossbreed - Tessa

My doggie!!!!

My doggie!!!!

This is my dog, Tessa, who is an eight year old mongrel we got from a rescue centre.

For two years, her previous owners tied her to the washing line and kept her there until one day some people asked if they could have the dog. They agreed and Tessa went to them.

However, the couple who took her in were kind but worked full-time and left her alone. They had no time to train her properly or exercise her. As she was a terrier of some sort, Tessa escaped and neighbours brought her back home from the streets.

One time a dog warden caught her and phoned her owners who said they didn't want her anymore. The kennels at the pound were full so she was taken to Thornberry Animal Sanctuary, where we found her.

How she put on a performance! Tessa put her back against the wall and cried her heart out, whining softly. We were taken in!

So, here she is today. Tessa is a really lively dog who's favourite habit it chasing her tail. She's a funny little dog but we love her!

We took this photo a few weeks ago. She's soooo photogenic and we love the way she sort of looks at the camera, but then again doesn't.

Think, people!
by: Alesha

That is so sweet! Tessa is certainly an usual looking dog - but she's beautiful.

I wish people would spare a moment to THINK before they purchase a dog, I mean, it's as though they don't realize that a dog requires attention, love and time. If you are too busy with work, then don't buy one! Tessa could have been hit by a car or worse when she was off on her own because she was bored. Rescue centres should do more research into potential owners before they allow them to adopt and people should use their BRAINS.

Well said Alesha! - Hilary

Lucky One?
by: kayowe

I'm not sure who's the lucky one...you or Tessa? What a lovely story and a cute photo.

settled and happy
by: Hilary

Well done you for not being put off by Tessa's performance. And thank goodness you found each other.

Some people have NO idea about looking after dogs and it's just too easy to acquire one. No wonder Tessa originally ran away. I would have done the same!

Glad she's settled now and happy.
